What Did Students Do?

In writing, students used research notes, articles, books, and video notes to create a piece of writing about Terry Fox.  They had to include factual information as well as details about how Terry has inspired them and others he touched.  They were given a rubric to guide their writing.  Students also had the opportunity to connect with Kirsten Fox, Terry's niece on Thursday morning.  Her message was that Terry Fox was just her uncle and an ordinary man who set goals and worked hard to achieve them.  This connects well with our text on The Power of One and our big questions of How Can I Make A Difference.

At 1:00 on Tuesday, September 26th, we will have our Terry Fox Assembly and run.  Some of our grade fives will be speaking at the assembly.  Grade five parents are welcome to join us for both the assembly and the run.  Please ask your child if they will be involved in the pre-run assembly.

September 30th events - We would love to have photos of how your family observed Orange Shirt Day.  Any photos of you connecting to the land, wearing your orange shirts, going to Fort Calgary, or anything else you might decide to do would be great.  Please send them to your child's teacher.  We would love to share these photos of our families in the October 5th grade 4/5 assembly.

Ask Your Child:

-What did you learn about Terry Fox in the video, The Power of One?

-Tell me about the Google Meet with Kirsten Fox?

-How do you read an eight digit number?

-How do you order these eight digit numbers from least to greatest?
